Disciple Women's Ministry (DWM) provides opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment and education to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ. In the tradition of Disciples of Christ, we support the mission of the church through monthly service projects. The times and studies of the two groups are as follows:
General DWM:
Day: First Monday of every month
Time: 9:15 - 11:30am
Study: Half the Sky, Nicholas Kristof & Sheryl Wudunn (Pulitzer Prize winners & journalists with the NY Times)
Women hold up half the sky, says an old Chinese proverb, yet more girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the battles of the last twentieth century, according to the authors.
Commencing September 12 at 9:15 a.m. (and the 1st Monday of each month thereafter) Disciples Women's Ministry will be studying individual women's stories and the given practical advice which sets an optimistic tone. They illustrate how women in Africa and Asia are leading a courageous, strong crusade. It is a story of empowerment. The Kristofs make a brilliantly argued case for investing in the health and autonomy of women worldwide.
"This book isn't a sermon...These stories are electrifying and have the effect of breaking down enormous problems we can focus on. Suddenly, these horrendous problems begin to seem solvable. Again, it is not a sermon about victims. The range is wide, and sometimes even funny...I really do think this is one of the most important books I have ever reviewed." - Carolyn See, The Washington Post

Day: Second and fourth Mondays of every month
Time: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Study: The Frazzled Female Bible Study by Cindi Wood is a resource designed especially for women. By sitting at the feet of Jesus and absorbing His teaching, women will be able to deal with essential issues like managing their time, getting along with difficult people, taking time for themselves, and even organizing their lives.
This thought-provoking, yet light-hearted study helps women discover practical, biblical help to confront issues that otherwise leave them discouraged. It helps participants develop biblical skills to handle stressful situations; grow in their relationship with Jesus; and ultimately experience peace, joy, and a saner lifestyle.
